Above Jesenice, more precisely above Hrušica, lies the pleasant Dobršnik via ferrata. It is designed similarly to Jerm'nand Hvadnik in Gozd Martuljek, as it runs alongside a stream, crossing it multiple times. During the ascent, you're rewarded with stunning views of eight waterfalls, the highest of which is 22 meters tall. Though the via ferrata is of an easier grade, it is less suitable for younger children due to its sparse and widely spaced rungs.
Take the Jesenice-west exit off the highway and continue right to the roundabout below Hrušica. Enter the village, drive past the Trucker pizzeria, and the parking lot will be visible on the right just after it.
From the parking lot, you'll already see signs for the via ferrata. Follow them through the village—immediately at the edge of the parking lot, turn right and head uphill towards the forest. Leave the asphalt behind and continue on a forest path. After a few minutes of following the signs, you'll reach the first stream crossing and eventually arrive at the start of the via ferrata. Information boards along the way provide some history and interesting facts about the surrounding environment, as well as the rules for climbing the via ferrata.
At the top of the via ferrata, the gorge opens slightly, offering scenic views of the forests to the south. Descend slowly along the forest path, which may be steeper in certain sections, but careful steps should make it manageable. You'll return to the path near the first stream crossing and follow the same trail back to the village and the parking lot.
The lower part of the via ferrata is easier (B grade) compared to the upper part. At the start, follow the cable and a few rungs to the left of the first waterfall. Since the via ferrata is close to the water, take care when stepping on wet stones. After climbing past the first waterfall, continue along the stream, crossing it for the first time shortly after. Stay on the right side as you approach the end of this section.
Here, the terrain becomes steeper, with shorter waterfalls, and the via ferrata flattens out slightly between them. The more challenging section (C grade) begins at this point. In steeper areas, the lack of rungs becomes noticeable, but with careful foot placement, progress can still be made. This section follows a forest path alongside the stream. Beneath a waterfall, the cable resumes.
This first section is especially tricky after rain, as higher water levels make the rocks wet and slippery. During the ascent, take a moment to look back and enjoy the scenic views. A final climb awaits at the top, where the terrain levels out before exiting the via ferrata. The route leads out of the gorge, and the cables soon come to an end.
